Message from AANA Foundation Chair, Kenneth Plitt
The AANA Foundation’s first-ever State Challenge is underway and will kick-off with the first donation received during the Annual Meeting. Participating in the State Challenge is a great way to support anesthesia education and research. Every time you or someone living in your state makes a donation to the Foundation through our Annual Giving Fund, scholarship sponsorships, tributes or major gifts, your state will receive the credit. We appreciate and are grateful to all of our donors and know the importance of every gift that we receive. This Challenge will raise the funds necessary for the Foundation to assist CRNAs and student nurse anesthetists in their research and anesthesia programs. The funds will also support poster sessions, scholarships and fellowships. The generosity of dedicated professionals like you aided the Foundation’s mission tremendously this year. In 2009, the Foundation awarded over $240,000 in scholarships, fellowships, grants and poster session awards. With your participation, we hope to offer greater opportunities for the upcoming year.
Individuals in each state are encouraged to participate and challenge themselves to fundraise with the future of their profession in mind. The contest will continue through June 30, 2010, and winners will be announced in conjunction with the 2010 Annual Meeting. The AANA Foundation will recognize and provide awards to the top two states. Both small and large states can compete equitably based on winning criteria. Keep checking the Foundation’s website at www.aanafoundation.com to view your state’s fundraising success starting October 1st. The success of the State Challenge depends on each and every one of us and I look forward to watching your state compete!
Watch for ads in the AANA NewsBulletin and e-News and stay tuned as we unveil further surprises. The Foundation challenges you and your state to get on the map!
Sincerely,
Kenneth C. Plitt
